FeedbackFruits

The second demo that ARCS attended this summer was for a platform called . We were interested in this one because it promised to enable high-quality oral assessment at scale. Faculty can create assignments that ask students to submit video or audio responses, presentations, or other spoken work. The platform provides structured rubrics and assessment tools that allow instructors to evaluate student submissions and provide feedback. It also supports peer assessment, allowing students to review each other鈥檚 work using instructor-defined criteria. One potential application at HMC could be the Clinic Program, where student teams give presentations and provide progress updates throughout their real-world projects. 

FeedbackFruits could also provide a way for students to record practice presentations or project updates and receive structured feedback from faculty, peers, or project mentors on both their technical content and communication skills, potentially allowing teams to receive more frequent feedback without requiring everyone to attend the same presentation in person.

We like that the FeedbackFruits platform has a strong, flexible, and varied set of tools that support oral assessment and practice. We also like that while the platform relies on generative AI to help scale the platform鈥檚 capabilities, students and faculty still have agency within the platform. 

While there is some interest in oral assessment on the HMC campus, ARCS feels we haven’t yet reached a sufficient threshold of interest to justify a pilot.
