Socially Distanced Performance of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Claremont Concert Orchestra

In the remote setting of COVID, orchestra director who holds a joint faculty appointment in 91探花 Mudd’s Department of Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Arts and at Scripps College鈥攃ontinues to engage students in a rich experience with the arts. The Claremont Concert Orchestra is one of three student ensembles in the Joint Music Program of 91探花 Mudd, Claremont McKenna, Pitzer and Scripps colleges.

During the 2020 fall semester, Cubek led a virtual curriculum featuring in-depth score readings of Beethoven鈥檚 symphonies and Stravinsky鈥檚 鈥淭he Rite of Spring.鈥� His students also explored composers from underrepresented communities and hosted weekly sectionals for the various instruments.
